Christmas Gifts
Posted on December 28, 2011 by webadminThis past Christmas Eve during service we did something we've never done before. Instead of collecting an offering, we gave out a gift. It wasn't the usual kind of gift that you find under most Christmas trees. It wasn't a new toy, a gift card, or a new electronic gadget. It was a simple card with some text printed on it.

Operation Christmas Child
Posted on November 16, 2011 by Sarah JacobsonThis winter I want the New City kids to be involved in Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse. This past Sunday the kids learned more about giving and sharing with others and how Jesus felt about that. The kids were invited to fill a shoe box with items they want other children to have. Each child went home with a packet of information (see attached pdf). This Sunday, Nov. 20 will be our collection day.
Hopefully as many kids as possible can participate!

Human Trafficking
Posted on January 27, 2011 by webadminJust a few months ago federal authorities arrested 17 people from Minnesota in connection with human trafficking. Women and children were forced into sex for money and drugs by a network of gangs and traffickers. When this story broke, the Minneapolis community was shocked that this sort of thing was going on. Surprise and skepticism were the responses. But Minnesota has been a source of human trafficking long before this sex trafficking ring. Pimps in Las Vegas refer to Minnesota as "the factory" because 10% of prostitutes there are from Minnesota.

That means many things, but one of them is that we are meant to act out the service oriented life of Jesus by serving others. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.

Submit a Question For Questions Sermon Series
Posted on May 25, 2010 by webadminOur next sermon series at New City will be called "Questioning God." We want to tackle some of the questions that keep us from following God more fully. The sermon series will start later this summer. For now, you have the opportunity to shape what topics we discuss. We need you to submit your questions so that we can compile a list of questions to be used for our sermon series. You can add your question on our website or send and email to John.

Becoming Sermon Series
Posted on March 22, 2010 by webadminHave you ever felt like being a Christian is harder than it's supposed to be? Have you ever felt like the change and healing that was promised to you is slow in coming? The New Testament is replete with stories of healing and deliverances, as well as bold promises to Christians about freedom from sin and a new radically transformed life. But the reality is most of us feel caught somewhere in between. We become Christians and experience some change for the better, but also struggle with old habits and recurring sins.
