Retreat: Connect
Posted on January 25, 2012 by webadminLast year after our first ever church retreat, one person said to me,
"Why didn't we do this sooner? This was far and away the best thing we've done to get to know one another! Now I feel like I'm really a part of this community!"

Stories
Posted on January 4, 2012 by webadminJesus was the master story-teller. He understood the power of a story. With a twist of the plot or an unusual character casting, he could reveal hidden presuppositions and deep misunderstandings about God in the hearts of his hearers. Beginning January 8, 2012, we will explore the powerful parables of Jesus with the hope that they will offer us guidance as we corporately seek to deepen our spiritual life with God. Join us for Sunday morning worship at the Rec Center at 10am.

Lemonade for Haiti
Posted on August 1, 2011 by webadminHi everyone!
This email is for New City kids (and their parents). Do you remember when Jina showed us pictures from Haiti and told us about the people who didn’t have houses? There were two boys in particular, who lived with their mom, Anita (pictured above), who didn’t have a safe house (also pictured above) to live in. We’re having a lemonade stand to send them some money to build a safe house, and you can help!
Here’s what’s happening:
Lemonade and cookie stand, this Wednesday (Aug. 3rd) from 4 pm to 6 pm, at the Asanji house (5101 Valley View Rd.) in Edina.

Acts: A New Church in the Making
Posted on May 8, 2011 by webadminWe begin our new sermon series on the book of Acts on May 8th. From Christmas 2010 through Easter 2011, we went through a Life of Jesus series. Now, post-Easter, we are going to look at the life of the early church after the resurrection of Jesus. Acts chronicles this story, and it feels like a particularly appropriate series for us, a new church ourselves, to dig into.

Demand Change Project
Posted on April 1, 2011 by webadminAt New City, it's our vision to communicate the love that God has for the world. One of he ways we see that happening is through sacrificial service. When Jesus washed the disciples' feet he said that he was communicating God's love for the world. We believe as we serve others, we also communicate the love God has for the world.

Breaking Free Speaker on Feb 13
Posted on February 8, 2011 by webadminThis Sunday, we are privileged to have a speaker from Breaking Free joining us for our morning worship service. She will share more about her organization -- what they do and why they exist -- and she will help raise our awareness about the issue of human trafficking and sex slavery right here in the Minneapolis area. We believe God is calling us to do something for victims of sexual slavery, and we are excited to have someone visit with us who can provide us with concrete ways we can respond.
