New City Covenant Church desires to be a community that not only impacts its neighborhood, city and nation, but also has a global perspective and positively influences the world for Christ. Thus, this month for our Just Living segment, which desires to help us see those in our world who are normally invisible to us, our aim is to focus our attention on the flood relief efforts in Pakistan.
This natural disaster, which has now affected more than 20 million people, more than the Haiti Earthquake AND the 2004 Asia Tsunami combined, received much global attention when it initially occurred in late July. However, like many stories, as time has passed news organizations have shifted their focus elsewhere. This is in spite of the fact that many are still in need of shelter, medical assistance and clean drinking water.
Thus, our hope is to not only bring greater attention to the continuing needs of the Pakistani people who have been impacted by this crisis, but also to mobilize our congregation to pray. In addition, through our partnership with One Day’s Wages, our goal is to give financially in order to help alleviate some of the physical needs of the Pakistani people.
Our campaign goal is to raise $2000 to give towards the relief efforts. If you would like to partner with us in this venture you can do so by visiting http://www.onedayswages.org/donate/org/new-city-covenant-church.
Please donate as you can, and share. Our goal is not just to raise money, but also spread the word. Here's a short link that you can share on sites like facebook or twitter: http://bit.ly/avZUhU
