We're excited to announce the inaugural sermon series at New City Covenant will be on the book of Job, called "Job: An Honest Story About Real Life." In this peculiar book of the Bible, we find a story about a man who had it all and then lost it all. He was on top of the world, he was upright, and he was devoutly committed to God, and yet suffering came his way. We read about Job succumbing to one form of suffering after another. Job's story is a story of profound loss and sadness.
But it's also a story of hope. Throughout the story, Job never curses God. He remains steadfast in his faith despite the uncertainty of his surroundings. I think Job is an easy character to relate to. Many of us have been through times in our lives where things went badly and God seemed absent. I invite you to join us as we look into the life of Job. It is my hope that we will find encouragement in Job's story as we search for hope and meaning in the midst of hardships.
The series topics by date will be:
- December 6th: Finding Faith When You Feel Forsaken
- January 10th: The Dangers of Being Religious
- February 7th: Dealing with Doubt and Doubters
- March 7th: Hope for a Better Tomorrow
